When you exit Nici, you can choose to first do a Wipe by clicking on the File menu, then clicking on Wipe then Exit...
Wiping deletes files that Nici stores, which are used to display the History page, determine if a link is fresh, show if a page address has already been downloaded, and create the pages in My Archives. You can choose to delete all of these files from your hard drive. If you do delete these files, the next time Nici is started, no Pages will be loaded and no History displayed.
Deleting the History and Page files does not delete the actual picture files that Nici downloads, however after you delete the History and Page files, Nici will not know anything about those picture files. The next time you start Nici, it is a fresh start.
If you do delete the History and Page files, Nici offers a number of options on what you can do with the picture files.
Nici stores picture files in numbered folders. You can choose the location of these folders in the Maintenance section of the Nici Options
If you chose to delete the History and Page files you can:
If you select the Export Picture Files option, Nici moves the picture files into folders named after the web-host that the pictures were downloaded from and the name of the page.
Example: You have downloaded two pages from the host "www.pictures.com" one named "red" the other "blue". You have also downloaded one page from the host "www.somehost.com" named "Todays pictures".
If you then choose the export Base Folder to be "My Pictures", Nici will create the following folders:
... and move the pictures from each page into these folders.
If you have enabled the privacy obscure {This is a privacy feature. When enabled it alters the pictures slightly so that programs like "My Computer" will not automatically display them. More } mode, all picture files will firstly be un-obscured before exporting.
After you have exported the picture files, Nici will not know anything about these files and will not be able to display these pictures in the future.
When you choose to delete the History and Page files, everything that Nici knows about what pictures have been downloaded and what web-sites they were found at, is deleted from your hard drive. The only settings that Nici retains are inert settings like; What theme you are using, whether to show tooltips, license key information and Window layouts.
