When Nici-Quick {Nici-Quick is the default download strategy. It quickly and efficiently downloads, and classifies pages as either Picture pages or Directory pages. Nici also offers the Crawl download strategy which can be used if Nici-Quick does not correctly handle the page. More } has finished downloading a page {A page starts as a url address of a web-page and is listed on the left-hand side of the Nici window. When a page is first added, it is classified as a waiting page, then as a downloading page, then as a finished page. The Nici-Quick strategy further classifies a finished page as either a picture page or directory page depending on what it contains. More }, its icon changes to one of
indicates that some pictures were not downloaded. Switch to the Tasks view to find out why. Often the reason is that the pictures were too small {Nici does not automatically download pictures that are very small }. or too large {To save time and bandwidth, Nici does not download pictures or pages that are very large }. or there was a network error.
To tell Nici to download the pictures it rejected, and to retry network errors, double click the page to open the Download Control Window, then click the Download Again button.
Some web page show a series of pictures, but also have a "Next Page" link, or use numbered links like "Pages: 2 3 4 5 6" etc. This is common for pages downloaded from Search Engines.
To download the pictures from the "Next" pages, select the first page by clicking on it in the pane, and then switch to the Source view by clicking on the source view {The source view shows the page like a web-browser. Clicking on links adds new pages to the download line. More } button along the top of the window. In the source view, click on the "Next Page" link or any (or all!) of the " 2 3 4 5 6" links, and they will be added as new pages.
If you have added a page, and Nici does not download any pictures, use the source view {The source view shows the page like a web-browser. Clicking on links adds new pages to the download line. More } to add pages that are "closer" to the pictures. For example, if you enter the address of your home page, Nici may not find any pictures. If all else fails, you can use Crawl {Crawl downloading is the backup download strategy. Unlike the the Nici-Quick download strategy, Crawl downloading systematically downloads and searches through all links. Before starting a Crawl download, a number of parameters need to be chosen.More } Downloading, which systematically searches through all links and attempts to download all pictures that it finds.
Crawl downloading can be very effective on certain pages (for example a page downloaded from a Search Engine), but can take a long time and not find any pictures on other pages.
To tell Nici to crawl download a page double click the page to open the Download Control Window, select the Crawl option and click Download Again
