Nici starts, but tells me I am "Not Connected"

When Nici starts up, in the top right hand side of the window you see the "Not Connected" status. This is illustrated by the screenshot below:

When I double-click the Nici icon, nothing happens or I get an error message.

Nici may not run if there is a debugger running on your system or if you have soft-ice or similar tools on your computer. If you do not know whether you have a debugger running on your computer, it is very unlikely that there is one running. By default, most machines do not have a debugger running.

Fix clock key: If you get an error message saying your "clock has been changed and you should request a fix clock key from the author", please email use at [email protected] requesting a fixclock key and we will email you back instructions for fixing this problem.

I get an error message while I am using Nici

System date not accurate. If you get an error message, similar to the above screenshot, but saying:

 Nici has detected an internal timeclock problem. 
Please check that your system clock is accurate.

Please exit Nici, fix your system date, and restart Nici. Nici requires your system date to be within a couple of days of the actual date.

The system clock is displayed in the Windows task bar. To change it to the current date and time, double click on the clock.

You may find that after you change the system clock, Nici will think that you have used your trial period. If this happens to you, please email us at [email protected] and we will send you a fix to reset the trial.

Other error: If you receive an error with a different message, we would be very appreciative if you could send it to us. To do this, click on the "Open Email" button in the error window. Your default email client should open and a message should be created addressed to us, containing information about the error. All you need to do is send that message to us.

Certain email clients do not allow other applications to tell them to create messages. If nothing happens when you click "Open Email", instead click "Copy Report" and manually open your email client, create a new message and "paste" the report into the body of the email. Please send it to [email protected].

Purchase Order Key Expired

If you see this message when you start Nici, it means that you need to enter a new keycode into Nici. You should have received an email from Nici Software Support, with the subject Nici: Permanent Key around a week before this message would appear. In that email is a permanent keycode and instructions for entering it. These instructions can be found at the following link:

If you can not find this email, email us at [email protected] and we will resend the email with high priority. If you do not receive a response from us within 12 hours, please email us again. If this is the case, it is possible that a spam filter may be blocking our emails, and we will use another email account to send you the details.

Connection Problems and AOL

If you use AOL and/or you are having the problem that when you start Nici, it is not successfully connecting to the Internet, try the following solution:

Before running Nici manually establish a connection.

You can do this by either double-clicking on your dial-up network connection, or by opening a browser, like Internet Explorer or AOLBrowser and navigating to any page.
