Image Grabber

Grabbing something means to take it or move it closer to you. Nici is an image grabber, use it to move images from web pages to your hard drive.

Web Image Grabber

Nici works in a similar way to a web browser (for example: Internet Explorer).

When you view an image gallery page in a web browser, the web browser downloads the page, then downloads the inline images ... which it saves to your hard drive in your "cache" folder.

Nici does the same thing, except that when it detects inline thumbnails, it skips over them and instead grabs the full size images. Also your browser automatically deletes files from your "cache" folder, while Nici does not delete the files.

Both Nici and a Web Browser grab images, but only your browser gives them back!

The advantage of an image grabber is that it can be specialized for browsing images, including features such as:

Sharp image display and automatic resizing to your screen size.
Navigation through grabbed images using keyboard arrows or your mouse.
Ability to create slideshows.
Ability to view the image (or watch a slideshow) in full screen mode.
Advanced effects such as picture morphing.
Picture rating ... give images a rating out of 10, and later look through your high ranked images.
