TGP is short for Thumbnail Gallery Post, sometimes referred to as Thumbnail Gallery Pages. TGP firstly became popular for displaying pics intended only for adult consumption, but has proved popular for all kinds of pics. There are two sides to TGP:

• TGP pic gallery pages ... the "TG" part .. the thumbnail galleries
• Pages that list categorized links to the galleries ... the "P" part. Confusingly, these pages are often called TGPs ( ... other people Post their thumbnail gallery pages to them). These are like index pages to all the jpg pics galleries that have been sent to the webmaster.

Generally there is a group of people who build TGP pic pages, and another group of people who build and maintain the TGP list pages. Both make their money by including advertising on the pages.

If statistics are any guide the average internet user has seen 1000's of TGP gallery pages and downloaded and viewed 1000's of TGP pics. There is a common format, 5-20 thumbs that link to the full size pics.

Especially in the Adult entertainment world, the TGP link page owners have very strict rules for how to construct a thumbnail gallery. TGP rules can be very strict and a gallery page must meet them before it is listed. Rules limiting how small the pictures can be, how much advertising can be on the page, and sometimes how the thumbs are layed out.
