Offline Browsers

Nici is an offline picture browser. Unlike a typical offline browser, Nici does not save the complete site, only the pictures and movies it finds. Nici includes a picture viewer. The benefits of this is that you can:

• Navigate through the saved pictures using a mouse or keyboard.
• Create slideshows
• View the picture in full screen mode
• Apply advanced effects such as picture morphing

How to browse pictures offline

• Step 1 ... download a directory page. These are pages that list picture pages. (TGPs are directory pages, and Nici comes with the addresses of around 100 you can use. For this example we will use our tutorial directory page at: http://www.nicipics.com/pictures/index.html)
• Step 2 ... Click on as many links as you want pictures. Each link is added to Nici's download line. Nici works its way through the download line simultaneously downloading the picture and movies from between 2 to 10 pages.
• Step 3 ... Do something else while Nici downloads. Come back and browse through a couple of thousand pictures

Above is screenshot of Nici illustrating Step 2. The arrows represent mouse clicks. We have added 10 pages to the download line. Nici will automatically download around 150-200 pictures.

This page is listed on the tutorial directory page we used in the above example. If you download and try Nici, then follow the above steps and click on the "Hyenas and Hippos" link ... you will download and save the following pictures:

Note: Nici will skip over the thumbs and find the full sized pictures they link to

Above is a screenshot of Nici after it downloaded the pictures from this page. Once downloaded, you can go offline, and browse the pictures using the up, down, left and right arrows ... or watch a slideshow of the pictures in full screen mode.
