Our Summary: Simple design, quick to load, and direct hyperlinks are the positives for elephantlist, however we had a couple of problems with it.
The first problem is the lack of a content label such as PICS. Child surfing safety programs use these labels to block inappropriate content, and we believe that being labeled is part of being a good internet citizen
The other problem was the use of blindlinks. When clicked, these links redirect to a site, which probably help the webmaster, but do not benefit the surfer. Our problem was they were blindlinks, indistinguishable from the regular listings. A savvy surfer could learn to recognize the blindlink address (it is an internal hyperlink to a cgi script that randomly redirects), however this was reason for us to give elephantlist a reduced mark.
http://www.elephantlist.com/ was downloaded ech day at the same time from the 9th January to the 17th January 2005.

We found blindlinks on www.elephantlist.com that will not show up in this list because the hyperlink address is always the same. At the top of the gallery listings, every fifth listing had the address http://www.elephantlist.com/cgi-bin/rb4/cout.cgi. When you click on this listing you are redirected to some other site typically another tgp or paysite. These listing exist for traffic trading purposes, not for the benefit of the surfer.
