Our Summary: This TGP gets high marks across all of our scoring categories, except for skimming.
While The New Shemp uses direct hyperlinking which is plus, it does mix into its listings redirection links, which look like a standard gallery listing, but instead redirect to another tgp or paysite. One mitigating factor is that the status bar is not changed to hide this fact, so the savy surfer could learn to recognize these blind links.
Update 9th April 2005: We received feedback that "skimming removed from main links page on shemp.com". This is good news and our one problem with this TGP has been fixed to make it very surfer friendly. Its mark in the skimming category has been upgraded from a D to an A+
It was good to see Shemp being a responsible internet citizen by using old-style meta tags to label the webpage as not safe for children. We would have prefered to see the newer style ICRA labels, however something is better than nothing.
Shemp has a huge update schedule. Its combined fresh listings of pictures+movies of 4238.5 MB was the second highest of all TGPs we studied. Over the week our crawler downloaded it, shemp listed 22521 pictures (1345.5Mb) and 2215 movies (2893.0Mb).
Overall, The New Shempis a TGP that surfers would get used to, but is unfriendly to new surfers not expecting the blind listing hyperlinks.
